I am taking part in Dr. The Viking’s third army challenge and I am aiming to finish the bulk of my support options for the eldar Alaitoc Warp Hunters. You can see my starting position at the link.
For month 1 I have painted 2 vyper jetbikes, one of my favorite models. There is a bit of work to finish these off (decals and gems, and a few highlights) but I have finished them to tabletop standard just in time for month 1.

Brave man, choosing not one but TWO vehicles for an update. I don’t think anyone else did vehicles that month, did they? And vehicles with freehand craftworld detailing. Lovely.

Thanks Curis 🙂 I am pretty happy with how they turned out but I still need to add decals and finish painting the gems. I don’t think anyone else did a vehicle – it was probably a bit overambitious to take it on!!

That’s a great pair of Vypers! You’re also illustrating really well why I never got my Eldar started – too many of the official schemes look too bloody awesome to choose (and I don’t want to build 5 Eldar armies!)
A shame I keep missing these 2nd edition paint challenges. I’ve certainly got the models sitting around and even though I’m too lazy to list build properly, they are at least pretty managable in size. I am currently working on a 2nd Edition-Adjacent project right now that I’ll be posting up real soon, though! 🙂

I hear you! Right up until I starting putting paint on the first mini I was totally undecided about whether I would do Saim Hann or Biel Tan or Alaitoc! I only ruled out Ulthwe because my regular gaming buddy already has an Ulthwe army…
The army challenge has been great for me as I generally lack focus to get stuff done so it has really helped with that side of it. I’ll try to remember to let you know when the next one is kicking off but it will be around mid year I think.
And looking forward to seeing your project!

Hm… Maybe I will end up having more than one Eldar army – I’ve probably got enough models already without picking up the shiny new ones – and the Aspects can easily cross between the craftworlds anyway! One of these 2nd Ed challenges might be the best way to start it as well, given the smaller sizes and higher point costs, though I roughed out an easy 1k+ pts worth of 2nd Ed Chaos that I’d do for one of these things using era-appropriate models.
The first batch of 90’s models for that project will be up in about 3 days… 🙂
