More thoughts on Warhammer: The Old World and an introduction to my High Elves project

I played another game of Warhammer: The Old world last week, this time a 4 player game run a 2 vs 2 with me and my regular gaming buddy (High Elves and Wood Elves) taking on two opponents who were running Vampire Counts and Chaos Warriors.  We each took 1,500 points (so 3,000 per side) and ran a simple pitched battle. It was good fun and 3,000 points per side made for a good game, though with those points restricted to 1,500 per player it meant that there weren’t any truly overpowered characters or units on the table.

Thoughts on Warhammer: The Old World

Warhammer Fantasy was always my first love, I’m not even sure how I got so sidetracked with 40K to be honest… The first wargaming figures I bought and painted were lizardmen in the 1990s 5th edition Fantasy era. So, like many, I was pleased to see “The World That Was” back again. I finally had a chance to play a game, and my regular opponent (who already has a few games under his belt) ran me through the rules last night.

Eldar vs Space Marines, 2nd ed 40K battle (new rules re combat resolution)

Last night my Alaitoc Warp Hunters took on Jason’s Dark Angels in a bloody battle. I remembered to take a few photos this time and I wrote up a brief report of the battle (but this is not a comprehensive battle report). We also used our own house rules for combat resolution for the first time.

Churchill NA75 (and Mark IV) (Warlord Games kit) and musings on 2024

Happy New Year, friends! I painted a Churchill Second World War infantry tank for Tom Egan‘s Festive Tank Challenge over 21 – 31 December 2023. Did it come out perfectly?…No, but it looks good I think and it’s done, which is perfect in its own way!
